When Sanelisiwe Njobe, Albert Ojo-Aromokudu, and Mbongisani Dube co-founded OURS, they brought together expertise in entrepreneurship, mechatronics, software engineering, and higher education, and a shared belief in the revolutionary power of learning.

The three founders, all from families of teachers, had seen firsthand how access to quality education could shape a child’s future, and how a lack of access could limit it. Motivated by this, they set out to address one of the most significant barriers facing education today: access to digital learning resources, particularly in under-resourced communities across South Africa.

Sharpening the Focus, Expanding the Impact

OURS was officially founded in 2018. Like many mission-driven ventures, the early years were spent refining their focus. After extensive research, pilot programmes, and market feedback, the team sharpened their mission: to bridge the digital divide caused by poor mobile data infrastructure and high connectivity costs in rural and peri-urban areas.

The result is a solution designed for real-world impact, delivering learning where traditional systems fall short.

A Portable Solution for Quality Learning

Their innovation is called OURSpace, a remote learning device that creates a local Wi-Fi network, eliminating the need for external internet or mobile data. Within a 50-metre radius, educators and learners can freely access a curated platform packed with high-quality teaching aids, digitised teacher training, multimedia learning resources, and lesson planning tools.

Designed to support diverse learning styles, OURSpace offers a multimedia-rich experience that enables educators to bring complex concepts to life, making quality education accessible anywhere, anytime. By combining offline-first technology with user-friendly, curriculum-aligned content, OURS ensures that no learner is left behind, regardless of their location or circumstances.
